National Severe Preparedness Week
This week
is the National Severe Preparedness Week! In order to get you all ready
for the storm season, I thought I would theme this week's blog posts as
"Severe Weather". We will be continuing your Severe Preparedness Week
with how to be prepared when the severe weather hits!
If you find yourself in the path of a severe storm make sure you are taking precautionary measures to keep yourself and people around you safe.
If you are outdoors and there is a chance for severe weather, make sure you are keeping an eye to the sky. Look for darkening skies, flashes of lightning or increasing winds. If you are indoors try to stay away from windows and do not go out onto your porch. Remember just because you are indoors does not mean you are safe from lightning.
My biggest take home point would be if you see some get struck by lightning... go help them! You will not get electrocuted by touching a lightning victim, but there sure do need you to call 9-1-1! Basically, this week is to remind you to heed warnings from your
meteorologist! If they are telling you to take shelter, it's probably a
good idea. I know all of this stuff seems basic but it's good to have a refresher every once and a while.
